Summary of Articles of Faith and Bylaws

We believe the Bible is God’s Holy inspired Word, which has been preserved and serves as man’s supreme and final authority.

The Bible gives us a clear account of God’s literal creation of the heavens and the Earth and everything therein. The highest of these is God’s creation of man and woman.

The Bible tells us the Godhead is made up of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each has His Divine work and the greatest of these is the redemption of mankind.

Man, after being created perfect, in the image of God, fell into sin. The only way back to God and His favor is through the atoning work of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, who died for the sins of man. All who repent of sin, and by faith, receive Christ as Savior, are spiritually born again and become the children of God forever.

We serve the Lord as holy priests and ambassadors for Christ, because we love Him and have faith in Him. We are debtors to God, which calls for the contribution of our time, talents and treasures. These gifts are to be given through the local church for the advancement and support of the kingdom of God.

The church shall come together in religious liberty for worship on the first day of the week, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord.

The mission of the church is to produce more and stronger Christians around the world, in keeping with the Great Commission of our Lord.

The local church is made up of baptized believers, with Jesus as her head and the Holy Spirit as her guide.

The church’s two ordinances are water baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

We believe in the imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ, where believers will be taken from this Earth and judged according to their works.

As believers, we will enjoy our home forever with Christ in Heaven with all who have been justified through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Rapture will begin a seven year period called the Tribulation. After this time of tribulation, Jesus will come again to Earth to establish His Millennial Reign. After the Great White Throne Judgment, those who chose to reject the salvation provided by the death of Jesus on the cross, shall be cast into the Lake of Fire forever.

The Masoretic Text of the Old Testament and the Received Text (Textus Receptus) of the New Testament, are the texts of the original languages we accept and use. We believe the King James Version, being the translation of these two texts, is the only preserved Holy Word of God in the English language.

World Missions
We believe the church is to be faithfully involved in world missions, with a priority of support and efforts which are long-term in nature, faithful in commitment to a particular field or region and passionate in outreach.

We place a priority on supporting missionaries who are church planters. The pastor and mission committee do extensive research to insure the quality of each supported missionary. Our missionaries are our hands and feet to the extended world and we cannot obey the Great Commission without them.

A person can become a member of the church in these ways:

• Baptism
• A letter of recommendation from a church of like faith and order
• A statement of faith or restoration

Elected Officers
Elected officers of the church are the deacons, trustees, treasurers, head ushers, mission committee members and finance committee members. The elected officers aid the pastor in the various ministries as needed and as directed by the pastor and policies of the church.

Government and Affiliation
The church shall be an independent body of baptized believers without exception. The government shall be vested in its assembled active members through its elected officers.

New Heights Baptist Church is not a member of any denominational organization, nor are we controlled in any way by outside entities. We are, however, freely affiliated with several fellowships of like faith through a variety of ministry and mission efforts.

We believe in the Scriptural practice of tithing or liberal grace giving for all members and financial contributions toward global evangelism.

Music in the church should exalt the Lord, educate, encourage, edify the believers and the whole church, and be used by believers to evangelize the lost by showing the change in their hearts and song. Christian music should be inoffensive and conforming to all biblical instruction. Musical instruments and components of music are neutral. However, once notes are arranged into music and played, the performance has a physical, emotional and spiritual influence of its own. Therefore, music is not to be considered neutral. It is the practice of this church to stand against “Christian” rock music and other worldly, rebellious forms, which have seduced many into joining that which is holy to that which is profane.

Christian music is that music in which text, music, performers and performance practices are conforming to the image of Christ.

Note of Clarification
New Heights Baptist Church is a conservative Baptist church. As such, this church stands for Christ in Biblical, personal and corporate holiness. Our efforts will be to strengthen godly standards, families and people. This good work will be accomplished through direct Bible preaching, teaching and modeling. We stand against modernism, new evangelicalism, ecumenicalism, the charismatic movement, the New Age movement, a social gospel, socialism, the homosexual movement and worldliness. This church will separate itself from groups who believe or practice the aforementioned erroneous belief systems and behaviors. We do so in an effort to be holy and unashamed at the rapture of our Lord.
